Over time and many more glasses of wine, we have learned that, regardless of your financial situation, you can indeed enjoy a relaxing glass of wine. Not all wines have to be expensive to be enjoyable. There are reds and whites that can be purchased for less than $15.00 per 750 ml. And also some very impressive wines sold in four litre boxes which are truly a blessing in disguise in today’s world, not only for their storage possibilities, and ease of use with their little spigots, but for recycling purposes also. These containers, with the bladder still inside, can be returned to your depot, just like bottles and other containers.
We have found a most enjoyable red by the box.It is labeled as Proprietors Reserve Shiraz and by buying in the 4L box, the average price per 750 ml would come out to be around $7.34 when purchased this way. That includes taxes and deposits. Place this wine in a decanter to let it breathe until your guests arrive and ensure you have the proper wine glasses so the wine can be appreciated for its bouquet and flavor. We recently also came across another Shiraz, this time from Australia, in a 3L box, called Fish Eye. Great wine and well worth trying. This box is an unusual shape and really easy to store. In Canada, with taxes and recycling fees, these boxes of wine can be expensive according to US standards. In the US, they are a really great bargain and can be found on sale in local stores for as low as $2.00! Incredible! Lowest price we found in Canada, in a province that has both taxes applied, is $26.99 for the 3 L and $38.99 for the 4L. Still a tremendous bargain.

The red wines of Chile have become the country's most notable exports recently, where conditions are ideal for Syrah, and the country is the fourth largest exporter of wine to the United States. Stainless steel fermenting tanks alongside French oak barrels is a notable addition to Chilean production and has brought the wines to the pinnacle of world wine making. Chile has the added advantage of being south of the equator so they can produce fine wines at a season when others are unable to do so. Lucky for all of us!
