Burgundy Red Wines for Under $20.00 Can Be Yours!

Not only is Burgundy classified as an excellent wine, but it is also the region in Eastern France well known for its cold continental winters and warm summers.  It is rich in winemaking history and has 99 different wine growing regions in the region which covers over 12,000 square miles.  Pinot noir grapes flourish here and further south the Gamay grape makes an excellent red wine which usually is drunk while quite young

History records that the large vineyards that belonged to the monasteries were confiscated after the French Revolution and the smaller plots are what remain today.

Burgundy reds from pinot noir grapes are notably paired with beef bourgignon and pheasant, but personally, you can serve it with just about any dark meat and it will make that food taste just somewhat better, somehow!  The Gamay grape mentioned earlier produces a beautiful Beaujolais which can accompany lamb or grilled chicken successfully.

But the wine making a comeback after quite some time now is the red Pommard, (from $21.00 to $45.99 for a 2005) It has a tannic, robust flavor which makes it pair well with venison or roasted red meat.

In the UK, you can get a Bourgogne Pinot Noir for around $9.00 U.S. and some stores have free delivery when you purchase 2 or more cases in the London area.  U.S.A. can pick up a great burgundy such as Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages Burgundy for less than $8.00 a bottle.  Why not enjoy wine with dinner this evening?
